Indoteak Design Project Spotlight: Monaco Drive Gym & Spa

Some homes exude a different level of design, elegance and beauty. The Monaco Dr. residence, designed by The KAA Design Group, was a challenging hillside project that tasked the designers with an unusual layout for a new pool and gym complex for an existing home. Not many people can boast about having a 6,000 square foot gym and spa area tucked below their existing tennis court. This property design does well at preserving the surrounding landscape, keeping the secluded vibe of the topography. While it’s independent of the tennis court structure above, the new spa houses workout facilities, an Olympic lap pool, steam room, spa baths and lounge.

Lido House Hotel Opens in Newport Beach With Rave Reviews

The highly anticipated Lido House in Newport Beach opened to rave reviews this past month. In 2011, The city of Newport Beach began considering its options regarding the old City Hall site, tossing around ideas for community centers as well as residential or commercial uses. The effort to reclaim the peninsula from what many were referring to as a “war zone,” was a major pain point that lead city officials and residents to support the revitalization efforts to return the area into a family & tourist friendly destination.

As all options were considered, the Lido House Hotel project won out and the city staff began their move into the new City Hall site in Newport Center in 2013.

Surfrider Malibu Gets A Facelift With Indoteak Design

The legendary Surfrider Hotel in Malibu California first opened in the 1950’s and was a perfect little motel for visiting surfers who flocked to the famed long green walls of the legendary right point. Pop culture got its first look at Southern California beach lifestyle with the cult classic film “Gidget.” That movie alone turned the sleepy surf town of Malibu into a world wide draw which also watched the surf crowds explode from a few dozen in 1951 to hundreds or new surfers chasing the dream of Gidget by 1957.

That was just the beginning and the little Surfrider Motel was constantly booked solid for decades until it fell under disrepair and was sold in 2013.
